From the POETS team we would like to say a huge welcome to all our new members this week, we look forward to interacting with you and engaging in your poems
Happy, happy Wednesday POETS
This week I have the delight of celebrating the wonderfully talented Jackie +J.M. L Jackie's poetry is always structured in the deep beauty of imagery no matter what theme she is writing to, this gives her poetry an essence of escapism that we all search for when we pause our day to read...to celebrate I have chosen this deeply emotive write shared by Jackie this week. Well done.
Today you’re gone a year
Dry now are my tears
Changed to sadness
Through the madness
Darkness came to me
Involuntarily
I stewed and brood
In a dark mood
For you certainly died and are gone
And my hearts light said to me, “So long”
This denial I’ve shed
Has left me in bed
To sleep to a flat, grey dream
A nothingness so it would seem
Breach this cocoon
Of sadness and doom
Bleak as the day you had left
Feelings I have are bereft
Bereaved
I believed I’d sense you again
Put on a brave face
Grieve without a trace
Humble with sorrow
Sadness will be back tomorrow
And lend me a moment or two
To awaken, curled up next to you
In my dreams, when they have color
When vivid and alive like no other
I hope you visit me soon in the sunshine of my soul
Don’t be frightened off by the cobwebs strewn across my mind
If i had a message, a signal or some sign
You were more then fine
I would feel better then I’ve been
These morose feelings aren’t a sin
When you’ve lost
There’s a cost
There is a hole in your heart
Where once it was solid
Until the day
I lost my way
A year ago departed

Special mentions
This week, I want to mention those poets who inspire us consistently, who bless our poetic minds time after time. So much talent, so much soul, so much spirit in their writing, in their support to their peers, in their encouragement of others...
+Paul Stump Not only does Paul write an awesome Tercet, but he also shares a whole wealth of famous poets/poems as well as pausing to offer encouragement and support to his fellow poets. Paul is truly a valued member here in the POETS community. Well done Paul and thank you for being among us.
+Jasmine Jasmine is like a breath of fresh air, her poetry grabs you gently and demands a moment of your time and yet leaves you a little lighter on your journey, a truly gifted writer and amazing member of the POETS team, Jasmine is very much a valued member of our community, thank you Jasmine.
+Bruce Newman Bruce is a highly talented writer producing consistently thought provoking poetry that gracefully takes the reader by the hand as the words paint an unabashed truth across the page. A truly valued member of the POETS community, thank you Bruce.
+Emily Nelson Emily is a hugely talented wordsmith, painting time and time again vivid and fresh images of innocence lost, Emily is currently using the artwork of Nicoletta Ceccoli which reflects her poems to absolute perfection, as we all know a picture can make or break a poem and Emily uses the artwork as an extension to her already powerful writing...this results in an incredibly powerful end result. Thank you Emily for being part of POETS.
Shout outs to the old and the new!
Shout out time! This is to allow us to pause and pay respect to those poets taking poetry outside of the box, driving creativity into new arenas, and equally, those poets that stand proud within the poetic roots that have created the very foundations we write from today...
