Happy Wednesday
POET OF THE WEEK 06.12.17
This week we are celebrating the poetry of John, his poetry is diverse, rich in imagery, loud in voice and deep in knowledge. A great poet and source of support and encouragement within the community. +John Fugman well done John.
("Explicit" language)
What is poetry?
Poetry is the woman sitting at the adjacent table
jotting thoughts on a brown napkin;
It's the little boy in the parking lot
screaming incoherently at his mother;
It's the old man waiting outside on the bench
watching the world pass him by;
It's all of the words that cannot be said-
that should and shouldn't be said;
the taboo subjects hidden in forests
of forgettable fables full of annoying alliteration;
And yes, for all of the formal fiends,
it's an elegantly crafted sonnet
that packages an opinion perfectly.
To me, poetry is something that makes Him cringe;
Something that makes Him look at a piece
and tell me it isn't a poem.
So - excuse me Poetry Gods,
I'm sorry to offend you-
I bid you farewell!
…Please send your "real" poetry
a heartfelt Fuck You!
