Poet of the week

Week 70 Poet of the week goes to the extremely talented +Bruce Newman for his poem, Modes of Pretense and his continuous support of the POETS community and our wonderful members.

An insightful exploration into the need for rapid and direct action rather than the slow pretense to which we have sadly become accustomed.

Modes of Pretense

How to repackage reality
Quisling question most salient
How to spin original issue
To say what was never meant

One would think that poverty
Or sex slave abominations
To abolish with fervent intent
Would fire the hearts of nations

But all the fertile context ground
Was plowed for pretext seeds
And no matter how we package it
A weed is still a weed

So even though the energies
Drained to artifice are immense
The only choices it leaves us
Are Gordian modes of pretense
