Poet of the week

Poet of the week (74)

This weeks Poet of the Week goes to our amazing moderator and extremely talented Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope brings into our community a ray of sunshine, her encouragement and support of POET members is tremendous as is her support among the team. To choose a single poem that celebrates the talent of this lady is an impossible task, as everything she crafts is a sheer delight to read, but alas, choose I must. . .

Inky clouds descending upon my heart
bearing it’s swollen weight down on me
I am shackled by an emotion, painted black
A vacuum where I float, gravity-less

Self-doubt creeps in
Am I worthy?
My strength, my courage, all I am,
was that all an illusion of a delusional mind?
Am I worthy? Was I ever?

How do I face another day?
Buried beneath layers of blank, cold earth
My hands are tied, how do I dig my way through?
So I just lie there, beneath sooty grime, motionless
Maybe it would be okay
Tomorrow, another day, a new hope?

All I can do now, is lay my head
on blank pillows of soiled soil
Oh well, nothing to it, I suppose
So I am not worthy
So I am this endless blank wall, lifeless
Nothing to it, I suppose

So, let me put on a death song
Write a poem, inked from black depths of my soul
And sleep a dreamless sleep till… well who knows?
Right now, who cares?
