Poet of the Week no. 46 goes to +Skylark Hatee for her spoken word poem Motif and for her active support of POETS and members.
Motif:
Silence bellows forth from naked caves of the world
Listen to the walls exhaling their inflicted violence into bleeding sunsets
Their whispers caught on the edge of a lost wind
Tell of timeless stories etched in stones
For chloroform life burns yet still into the hollow wombs of the earth
Long before you and I crawled out of the caves of life
Into a new light
So that we may traverse the seas of centuries
These chronicles of us
Like fetuses preserved in the oil darkness
Have me inquiring "to what purpose"
What crackle of a narrative wrapped within a spittle of an ember
Shall the theme of my life be
This theme echoing from some cavernous void within me
For I too am being carved into the deep veins of the earth
Embracing the language of stones
Igniting my silence into sparks of fire
Slicing my story into the open jowls of the grottos of life
